I read somewhere that StPaul's on Church Street is the longest church in Sf. As to the tallest, tow candidates include St Mary's Cathedral and Grace Cathedral.

Good luck in your research.

No contest; Grace Cathedral sits atop Nob Hill.

Grace Cathedral, Lewis P. Hobart, Architect (Episcopal), 1928, completed 1965. Exterior grounds completed 1996. California at Taylor Streets, Nob Hill After the Loma Prita earthquake in 1989, the Cathedral House built in 1911 was structurally damaged. A capital campaign was initiated, the building was removed and Mr. Hobart?s original plans were actually finalized a few years later. Gothic in style, the building is actually reinforced poured-in-place concrete. The doors on the east front facing Taylor Street are casts of the Gilberti doors of the Baptistery in Florence. My Grandfather would not accept a commission for this work.

I am researching Lewis Parsons Hobarts works and have a growing list of his buildings. Possibly I will start a new thread but for now if you have any information on his designs or would like a copy of my incomplete list, let me know.

Still Grace Cathedral. New website contains information on Lewis P. Hobart, Architect: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LewisPHobart/. My Grandfather died October 19, 1954; a memorial service and other activites are planned in San Francisco in October.
