You can use Nero 5.5 (thats what I have) to create menu's. Make it into a full version from a warez site. I myself started menu vcd burning about a week ago and so far it's been working out great. I did lock up 4 cd's though when experimenting so becareful. Don't think the menu's will be as advanced as a DVD movie, but they are neat.

VCDEasy from www.doom9.org is free and guilt-free, but u do need a healthy knowledge of White Book beforehand and Nero to burn the resulting *.bin/*.cue files because the built-in CDRDAO is a bit unstable. One beauty is because u can include chapter indexes on an MPEG track to FF or REV with your remote control to specific points within it, a feature neither Nero nor xat has that VideoPack4 did.

I only use Philips VCD Toolkit, simply because I get full control over what I want to do. I use Adobe Photoshop for designing my menus and screens, and integrate them into the VCD Toolkit authoring environment. Its a bit long winded, and you need loads of patience and creativity, but the results are VCD titles that rival commercial quality VCDs -- PROVIDED OF COURSE THAT YOUR VIDEO AND AUDIO IS ENCODED INTO THE WHITE BOOK STANDARD BEFOREHAND.

VCD Toolkit is freeware, and Adobe Photoshop is available as a 30 day trial from adobe.com
