3/8 " crome pipe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Plumb Truth : One Thread

I'm wondering if 3/8" crome pipe for a shower riser for a claw foot tub shower conversion can be sucsessfully bent. I need to get the shower head farther out into the tub area approximatley one foot from the vertical axis (away from the faucets if I can. As it sets now it's only about 6-8 inches and the old style shower head is at an angle to the floor...I need the shower head to be in a straight pointing down position. Are there pre-bent pieces available or should I attempt bending a piece. Thanks, Curtis Vaughan

YOU ARE PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE TO HEAT THE PIPE WHICH IS GONNA DISCOLOR THE CHROME. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A SWIVEL SHOWER HEAD OR SOMETHING ON A EXTENSION THAT YOU CAN PUT A REDUCING BUSHING IN TO GET THE RESULTS YOUR LOOKING FOR. SHOWER HEADS NOW ARE 1/2", MAKE SURE IT'S A GALVANIZED BUSHING.
