Origin of the "stand" that comes with the MV F4? (And a recommendation on a replacement...)greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread |
I was getting all nostalgic about the TT this weekend so I pulled out my book on Joey Dunlop by Stephen Davidson that my girlfriend gave me (a big bonus of having a girlfriend from the UK!). In the book on page 42 there is a clear picture of Robert Dunlop (Joey's brother) working on a Honda RC-45 with a black colored stand that's pretty much the same as the piece of garbage that comes with the MV F4. The difference was the stand in the picture had a removeable pin. I'm guessing this was from the 1999 race.So my question is, where did these stands come from?
Speaking of stands, I just picked up my shiny new Pit Bull stand on Friday (www.pit-bull.com) that works wonderfully and doesn't require 2 people to operate. It's even more stable to use than the Pit Bull stand I have for my R1. Hightly recommended. I wish the handle was about 2 inches longer, but other than that, perfect. I think it's around $150 depending on your dealer. Very beefey.

Why do you need 2 people to operate the stand?? I find it very easy to use single handed, lean the bike against your body as you push the stand in the real wheel, then put one foot on the back of the stand as you lift upwards with your left left hand on the 9in my case) rear footrest hangers. Been doing this for 18 months with never a problem.

What rear footrest hangers?I actually have used the stand by myself too, but it's not something I like to do at all. This new stand is super easy to use and much more stable.

I have seen a picture of an MV on an FG stand. I have and FG stand for my 996, an it works perfectly. I am trying to locate a pin that will fit the MV.Will
