My dog has Fleas! : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I have a little Yorkshire Terrier who has fleas. Last month I used Bio Spot. It did not work at all! 2 weeks ago I used Revolution from the Vet. He still has fleas! I am also usong Diatomatiouse Earth on him. He gets a bath 2-3 times a week(because he sleeps with me). I have tried flea shampoo's, flea dip....... Help! Nothing is working for me!

Sprinkle a small bit of garlic powder in the food dish every other day. Kill fleas by spraying rubbing alcohol on the dog while protecting the nose and mouth and eyes. Carpet and other areas need to be treated to kill eggs.

Brewer's yeast along with the garlic. They sell combinaiton pills at health food stores.

maybe,,just maybe,, the fleas are jumping ONTO the dog from you at night????

Vacuum the carpets every day and throw the bag out!

Are you putting DE on the carpet and on the lawn where the dog...goes?

Boric acid (the white eyewash powder from the drug store) applied as a fine dusting also works on carpet or fabric.

I tried everything and nothing worked so I tool him back to the Vet. He put Advantage on him. I had to wait 3 days before I took him without any bath's. Then No baths for 3 days after. The Advantage works with his body oils. It only lasted for about 3 weeks so this time I am going to try Frontline Plus. The Vet said it lasts 2 months, but since he is bathed so much, and swims in his baby pool so much it will not hold up for 2 months. Advantage also deosnt stop ticks, but Frontline Plus does. I would like to use something mor natural, but nothing seems to work. Now I am working on trying to figure out how to stop the biting flies on my beagle. I think they are going to eat him! Thank's for all the help!

You tried putting garlic in the food and it didnt work? I've used garlic for years and it has worked beautifully. Course I dont feed my dogs commercial pet food, and I give em lots of garlic in the summer. Perhaps you could give them a higher dosage?

I found Stan's answer to be quite comical.

However, my dog currently has fleas, and I bought borax today to sprinkle on the rugs as well as flea shampoo and dip to bathe my dog later on........Hope it works!!!!! Also, another suggestion that was given to me was to put moth balls into the vacuum cleaner when vacuuming, the fleas do not like the "moth ball" smell and I beleive kill them as well. I have them too!
