We have had almost a week of dry weather and the ground is finally dried out enough that we can plant. Tom is tilling it for the last time, then we are going to go out and pick sods and rocks, and lay out the individual plots. I got seeds yesterday: green beans, cucumbers, peas, cress, pumpkin, corn, carrots, radish, lettuce, spinach, yellow wax beans. I already have garlic in, and have onion sets ready. Next week we'll get tomato and pepper plants and some flowers and herbs. I also want to put in some raspberries.

It feels so good to be planting again, and to finally have some warm weather! Just two weeks ago we saw the last of the snow. I know most of you already have your gardens in, and in Texas you're harvesting, so bear with my excitement up here in the cold and snowy north:o).

I know what you mean Cathy... I have been ready to plant for the last month.

We finished the beds, and I have 4 of them filled with BEAUTIFUL dirt. In the first one I planted cabbage, broccoli, onions, radishes, lettuce, and basil.

In the second one I planted green beans, beets, carrots, and cantaloupe.

In the third one, (it has a fence down the middle) I planted cucumbers, butternut squash and watermelon.

In the fourth one I planted tomatoes and peppers. it also has a fence down the middle to tie the tomtoes to.

The only things I need to plant yet, are pumpkins, squash, gourds, corn, and potatoes. We left a plot that we can plow for these things...

I don't know how it will work out, but I mulched everything with old straw. So it looks like it will be easy to take care of.

Ladies, I bought 50 pounds of cowpeas yesterday for the summer cover crop in that its too hot soon for anything except beans or okra.

Tomaotes, peppers, broccoli and cabbage were plants, everything else was seeds.
