Hasselblad 553 and a d 40 flash

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I just got a Hasselblad 553 and a d 40 flash (both with no manuals), and can’t make them work for ttl. What I’m I supposed to do. I plugged both flash cables, one to the camera and the other to the lens. Made some test shots with a flash meter, and the flash out put didn’t change neither when changing the iso setting nor when changing the f-stop on the lens, nor when changing the focus distance. It seams as if it were always using its total power. What am I doing wrong? Thanks so much

The Medium Format forum on photo.net might be a better place for this question. (Unless I'm mistaken, the Hasselblad 553 isn't a large format camera.)
