A&WP boxcar

I have an Athearn single-door "Railbox" car that originally came in CSX paint which I stripped a while back hoping to find a suitable prototype to backdate it to. One turned up in the January 2000 issue of Railmodel Journal on page 43, from Atlanta & West Point number series 51400-51459, in Family Lines paint. In the photo the car appears to be painted blue, much like the CSX boxcars of today, but I was told that this was an illusion and the car was probably black, which had faded over time.

I have heard of the SCL and the other Family Lines roads using black to differentiate boxcars which had cushioned draft gear, but there is no mention of this series being so equippped. Can anyone shed some light on what color these cars should be?

Thanks, John
