Repair needed for Canon 30-70mm f2.8-3.5 SSC Lens

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

Greetings,

I recently acquired a Canon 30-70mm f2.8-3.5 SSC zoom lens through an e-Bay auction. The seller indicated that the lens' zoom ring was difficult to turn. What he didn't say was that the lens had been previousy disassembled and then reassembled with the front part of the lens 120 degrees out of alignment. He also didn't mention that the macro button was very difficult to engage.

I need to find a repair shop that can repair this seldom seen lens. Preferably a place with new or salvaged parts available. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help. More Info: I have mounted the lens and found the focus and zoom to work as expected. The lens elements are clean and have no scratches. I am not sure about the macro function. The iris seems to work properly.

Unfortunately I received the lens and then had to go on travel before I could check it out.. So I really don't think I should ask for my money back. My local repair company (Strauss Photo Technical in Wash. D.C.) doesn't want to work on it since they have no repair parts.
