How to start a backup automatically

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anders Petersson's Freeware Forum : One Thread

Is there a way to start no hands backup fully automatically with a specific backup profile, so it can be started with a scheduling program? Are there any command-line parameters available?

Please let me know

Best regards, Harko Aris

Response to how to start a backup automatically

Oh yes there is. The syntax for the command line is:

"C:\Program Files\No Hands Backup\NHBackup.exe" C:\My Documents\My Backup Sets\Backup My Documents.nhb

Note that you must have quotation marks (") around the application path but none around the path to the backup set.

Yes Richard, you can.

First you add a new task. Select NHB as program and set the intervall you want.

Then when the guide has finished open the properties (sometimes called advanced properties) dialog of the new task. In the 'Task' tab, enter the above command line in the 'Run' field.

That should be it.

(I just noticed that in Windows XP you have to assign a password to your Windows user name in order run tasks. It might be the same with NT)

Can I can I use the Win Task Scheduler to do this?

Thanks Richard

I use Windows task scheduler. I have 12 tasks all starting NHB with different kind of profiles. Works great.
