Question for Phil

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

Phil, I want to post pictures on one of the Lusenet forums. My pictures are uploaded to a MSN site but when I try to insert them in an answer I get the little box with an X in it. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks.

Answers

j, type in www.google.com

then type....lusenet countryside pictures

it'll take you to the cs archives describing how to!

Dang it... I just tried to follow that link, but with the password protection on CS now, I can't get there. J, try this...

You will need to know the exact URL of the picture you want to post. Once you have that, then use this format:(NOTE: I didn't add the brackets,(< >) but you'll have to for it to work.)

img src="http://url of your picture goes here"

As long as you have the proper URL, it should show the picture. Good luck! Let us know how it goes! :-)

Some online picture storage sites don't like "bandwidth theft", you see, when you link to the pic on their site it's a little like running an electric cord to your neighbors garage....they would rather you have a link to their site so they get "page views, people see their ads, etc." That may be the problem with the "red kiss in the box" ;)

However, I've linked to MSN, and it works fine. Yahoo doesn't for instance.

the way to link to pic. is to go to where you have it, right click on the pic., select properties by highlighting. Press "Ctrl." and "C" on your keyboard simultaniously. Then go to where you want to post it and insert the "adress/url" in the below sequence in place of where I have "url". To put it there just press "Ctrl." and "V" simultaniouly. Instead of these () use these <>.

(img src="url")

You can still get to the cooking and crafts forum for instructions. There are also others there for all types of posting html tips. Just click here for adding a photo instructions in 1-2-3 step format.
