Use Nero Burning Rom. It will convert the file and write it to a CD. What more could you ask for!?

a little more help. I have some avi files i am trying to burn to vcd. Each time I try using nero 5.5 it tells me it is encoding and then just stops when it is done encoding. It doesn't burn. SOme help for someone whi is fairly computer illiterate is great. Thanks

Why use a cd burn program (Nero) for video encoding ?

Use a tool that is specialised in that : TMPGenc. I create my vcd video files using TMPGEnc. Not real fast, but as far as I can see the best quality. Download TMPGEnc, install and begin. Make sure to load the correct template for your video (PAL/NTSC etc).

Encode, and when finished start Nero to burn. Select new VCD in nero, drag the video file in and burn away.

I created quite some vcd's this way, some video, some very long play audio (up to 4 hours) for my stand alone DVD system.

By using TMPGEnc, do you lose any of the quality from the original avi file?! I have a 700mb avi with a res of 640*272, will the mpeg file be the same quality when I convert it to an mpeg file and burn it to a vcd disc?! Using either TMPGEnc or Nero?!

Thanks, Danny

we are all in the same boat unless u have a pc with 80 gb for space u gotta uncompress the audio on the divx files and it takes up shitloads of space, tmpg is the thing to use when it comes to visuals but if u can the best thing is to get an mpg copy of whatever film from kazaa etc and the chances are its encoded anyway,as far as i know thats the only way to get these things without a lot of work. ok, i used the TMPgenc stuff, its really convert dvix, avi, xvid and is also add subtitles to your mpeg file, but when you burn it into a cd with the NERO vcd or s-video option you can play it in a dvd or vcd machine but the sound sync is late, im triying to fix it. Somebody knows how to fix that???? Just for helping...When you encode avi to mpegs, the file will get bigger, soo use the mpeg tool that come with the TMPgenc and cut it into two parts and then burn it. Au Revoir

I Was scanning around Google, Looking for a way to burn a 700MB AVI File so i can watch it on my Apex!! No luck though. But i just thought i'd anwser your questions, Yes there is a way to break in TMPGEnc and turn the quality up, I'm not sure if it will be VCD or not, But every time i do it on my Apex player it slows down badly and locks up. But it may work for those of you with up-to-date players i have a Apex AD-1010W DVD Player, Everything plays awsome on it, I Use Dazzle DVC 100 (I think) to convert VHS-TV-DVD to Mpeg. Wich works really good, Beats watching tapes! And i can get all my metal videos off VH1-Classic and put em on VCD (But seince Apex reads Data CDs their really DVD quality instead of VCD). Well anyways heres how i use TMPGEnc to kick up quality. Ok, First go through the wizzard, You know clip frame and Source Range (I Love those) then keep going, Until you see "Start Encoding Immediately" Uncheck it if its not already, Then go to "Load" and select the file "unlock.mcf" It unlocks all the goodie options for better quality Mpeg files! Then go to Settings, You'll see Bitrate wich is Video bitrate, I Usually use around 3300 on all my metal videos so the quality will look like it does when i get them straight off TV, and you can also go to the Auido and kick it up to 384 Bitrate, Wich i use that too so i can crank it up so you know, you wont hear that crappy digital chinkie sound in the symbols. If its a movie i turn the sound quality down cause it dosen't matter as much with movies as it does with music really. Thanks for your help! -RyAn (SlAyEr FoReVeR!)

Tony

to convert avi files to vcd just use the NERO burning software....which is downloadable free from the net....I am pretty new to this VCD business...I have used nero to burn a vcd from avi files but unfortunately the quality of the VCD is not good at all. I am now going to try and burn a VCD from a MPG file which Im thinking may have better quality?
