Rear shock spring rubbing on the swingarm?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Hello all. I noticed some yellow paint on the front part of the swingarm where the hole in it for the shock is. Looks like the spring rubbed just a bit. I recently had the stock shock replaced with another stock one, and it could just be that the shock rubbed the swingarm at installation. I haven't noticed anything strange when riding, so either it's rubbing just ever so slightly, or it was an installation problem. The dealer said he didn't remember it rubbing during install.

Does anyone else have yellow paint on their swingarms?

Hi Andy. Nope, no paint. I doubled check my shock and it seems like there's enough distance from the sing arm. I never had any paint the first MV either.

Sound like the shock may just need a re-adjustment, or your should stop jumping curves. :)

I bottomed the bike out pretty hard yesterday in a dipped corner, and I didn't notice any more paint on the swingarm. I need to clean the yellow paint that's in there now to be sure though, although that looks like it's going to be a difficult job. I may then hit this corner again really hard to see if the paint comes back.
