Infra red with EOS 50?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Dear all. Can I use infra red film with my EOS 50? Also, I recently saw some Kodak Portra 400 stored in the fridge at the store. Do I need to do this at home too, or is that only for long term storage? Can you just pop it in "cold" and shoot away? Please advise. Thank you.

1) You'll probably see some fogging along the edge of the film if you use Kodak HIE film; none if you use other types of IR- sensitive films. The amount of fogging seems to depend on your specific camera, so give it a try.

2) Film refrigeration is for long-term storage. You probably want to let it warm up for a few minutes - inside the plastic container - before shooting to avoid condensation if it's warm and humid.

For #2, why not get the answer straight from the horse's mouth? Kodak's data sheet (http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/tech Pubs/e190/e190.shtml) has the official answer on how this film is to be stored.
