EOS 300 vs Dynax 5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I'm a beginner in photography and cannot make up my mind on which of these 2 to choose. The EOS 300 having been in the market longer you find more opinions on, but some people argue the new Dynax 5 is possibly better, like for like. Could anyone please give me some pointers of good vs bad points on either of these cameras?

Thanks, Igor

Personally I'd go with the Canon EOS 300, they are better known easier to buy extra's like lenses etc and Canon has a good back up warranty service on most of their products. I've owned the Canon for two years now and wouldn't change it for anything.

The Minolta has more/better features, but Canon has a bigger system with more options. Canon also has Image Stabilization (IS) and USM focus motors with Full Time Manual (FTM) focusing in moderatly priced lenses.

If you have no plans on upgrading your photo gear the Minolta is a better buy. But if you think you might invest more money in a photo system for the future, I'd recommend the Canon.
