Blinking 'BC' when PB-E2 is attached

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have an Eos-3, set-up with a 550-EX, Sigma 17-35 and the PB-E2, everything works great apart from the booster. It apperas to work, then as soon as I hit the shutter once, the film sounds as if it is trying to advance but won't and the flashing BC comes on the LCD. The batteries in the booster are new and I have checked them to ensure correst placement in the cartridge. Is it possible the lens and booster are not compatible?

Did you try to fire the shutter with the lens off the camera?

Yup, same deal. Blinking BC.

Have you made sure to remove the little cap on the bottom of the camera that covers the "drivetrain" coupling between the booster and camera? It's over on the left side, close to where the film canister goes.

Thats funny because I have a BPE1 with my Eos3 and I get the same thing, that when Ive taken a shot I get the BC blinking and I have to touch the shutter again and I can here the film advancing to the next frame and I can then take the next shot. This is now driving me mad. I have found that this only happens when using my Sigma lenses, and if I take off the Sigma when it starts to blink and put a Canon lens on it workks ok and then I try the Sigma again it starts to blink.

I also get this problem if I use a 2CR5.
