the docs have determined that the clots are not in the deep veins! yea!!!!

so she is to stay off her feet and follow up with her doctor asap.

Prayer for Mutter's mother -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday Mutter's mother fell and she posted to TB2k. I thought I would post here as well, since we have many that don't go to both boards.

just got home from hospital, and making 4 phone calls....[again]

i am so bone tired...and worried. don`t really 'know' wha tis wrong yet. but she can`t use her left leg, left arm right [drops and goes in wrong directions]

and if you rise her head of the bed up, she leans so far to the left that she nearly lays back down!

tests tests tests tomorrow....leaning towards her spinal stenosis having gotten bad enough to cause neurological problems.

i told mom at the er that i had posted a prayer request for her on the board before i left the house.....because she needed 'prayer' first, and me second. she agreed.

please continue to remember Mom in your prayers. i believe in the prayers of my friends here. you helped get her through a very rough time last january.

thank you all so much.....i mean it.

going to go eat my cold chicken, and mashed potatos now...

morning everyone.....and 'thank you' for posting this over here for me. goods friends are a treasure, and i feel very blessed in that area.

here is the latest on mom. not much i`m afraid, but hoping i will know what all the tests showed this morning. [this is from last night.......]

update:

got back from hospital a little bit ago.

Mom is holding her own. they did tests all day long today. MRI - Cat scan - Dopplers of carotids, etc.

poor thing was so worn out tonight. but her spirits are good.

missed her doctor today [argh] so hoping to find him in the morning.

i should have some solid answers from the tests tomorrow and know where we stand. [note: the neurologist that came in today told me he was leaning towards a stroke......something i have thought all along. so we shall see]

[and sorry havent gotten back here earlier, but i have been doing 12 hour days at the hospital and just soooo drained when i get home i just crash.......]

tests showed Mom did in fact have a stroke. right side of brain this time [they found an older one on the left she musta had that went undiagnosed too]

yesterday they moved her to another hospital for possible 'rehab'. it is a nat`lly known rehab center, and very hard to get into....so again, thank you for prayers. [think they helped in getting her in there]

it is a positive sign that they have placed her there, because that means she may be able to walk again. [more prayers?]

but the other tests also showed that her carotids [yes, BOTH] are 80-99% closed!!! and i am getting the real impression that the docs have no intention of trying to do anything with them........so...........

just so you know. my Mom is much more than my Mom...... she is also my very 'best friend', and has been all my life. we are 'joined at the hip' so to speak. 'buddies' as well as mother/daughter.

while i have always counted that a blessing [and still do] i can tell you i have NEVER felt so ALONE in my life. i know the Lord is about to call her to her new 'home' very soon......and i just can`t 'imagine' conintuing my walk here WITHOUT her in it!

It sounds like they think she will recover from the stroke. If they suggested a nursing home, that would have been a little less hopeful for recovery.

Maybe when she is stronger, they will talk about working on unblocking the carotids. Don’t know if it can be done with medications. Heck, my 92 year old aunt had a pacemaker put in at the beginning of the year and has been doing great. So much is possible these days.

As Beckie said, enjoy the time you have with her now. We should practice that with all of those we love because we never know when a loved one will be called home; young or old.

i am literally 'beside' myself these days.....spinning in circles i feel.

Mom fell trying to get to the bathroom Thursday!! she is alright [thank God] for having fell, but is black and blue all over her shoulder and and hand and small area of her forehead. [she is taking heprin shots for the carotids so her blood is as thin as water, causing alot fo bleeding if you bumb something]

to make a long story short, the doctor and her nurse and i had quite a long 'discussion' over this!!! and they were very receptive, and seem to be doing their best to right this wrong.

[she was not to walk alone, and was in bed sleeping when she decided to go to bathroom. they hadn`t put up the siderails and had given her 'sleeping meds' [UGH!!!] SO THAT is how she fell!

i was NOT a happy cmaper let me tell you!

she is coming HOME for CHRISTMAS DAY~ [i am so happy she is able to be with the family one more time.]

please continue in your prayers if you can. i BELIEVE in them~!

My grandmother also fell when she was in the hospital years ago. She was in ICU and ripped all of the iv’s and monitors off her and got up to go the bathroom. By the time they got to her, she had already fallen, and the rails were up! She snuck out from the bottom end of the bed.

Unfortunately, it’s something quite common in hospitals and homes. Glad she was not seriously hurt and I hope she was able to come home with you today.

update:

i want to thank all of you for your prayers for Mom and family! i know we couldn`t get through this without them. and i 'feel' them working in my own life as i have found more strength to deal with all this than i myself have. so God must be with me.

a fast update now. Mom is coming 'home' today. going to go get her in a little while. yes!

she is still having difficulty in memory and impulsive behaviors tho. .....docs say she cant live alone!......so i am going to go 'stay' with her for the forseeable future. [there is a chance she will improve more and be able to live alone again with assistance, so i don`t want to break up her home of 24 years if i don`t have to]

but in the meantime.....my big sis has taken very ill! she has been bed ridden since new years eve. docs have set her up for stress test [monday] and many other tests have/will be done....... i tell you, it is pouring in our family these days.]

so if you could say a prayer for my SIS too?

please forgive me for being gone so much. i am trying to keep everything going as much as possible, but it is a real trick for me now......i miss you all so much!
