Where can I buy a replacement for the built-in flash unit for the eos 1000qd (rebel s) and what is it likely to run me? I seem to have misplaced mine.

Maybe they mean an external Speedlite flash which is used in place of the built-in flash.

If so any Canon Speedlite will work; it all depends on how much money you want to spend and how much weight you want to carry around.

Don't bother buying an EX series flash unless you intend to upgrade camera bodies in the near future. Get a cheap E or EZ series flash used.
