Southern Caboose X373

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Southern Railway : One Thread

I need to know any information about Southern Caboose X373. I need anything and everything. The Muscle Shoals Model Railroad Club has acquired this caboose that is sitting at the 5th Street Station in Tuscumbia, AL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I own Sou. Rwy. caboose X461. I have restored it back to operating condition and it is used some at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, Alabama. I have restored the exterior, interior and the wheel sets. X461 is a 1970 bay window, built by the Gantt manufacturing Company in South Carolina. Contact me on what kind of info you need.

I own Southern caboose X201. I am in the process of restoring it to operating condition and mine is also at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, Alabama. I have tons of Southern caboose information as well as prototype photos to help you. Your caboose was built in 1974 for the Southern Railway by Gantt Manufacturing in South Carolina. It weighs 52,900 lbs. and was used in over-the-road service by Southern. Contact me if I can help. I have seen your caboose and it is in very good condition. Good luck.
