Paper Dolls

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I'd guess many of you ladies played with paper dolls as a child. I remember making many of my own on rainy afternoons when I couldn't go outdoors with my critters. I even still have a couple of my favorite "store bought" dolls. I was looking for something for my granddaughter to do the other day and found there are lots of printable paper dolls on the internet. Many are pre-colored but there are some that are black & white that the kids can color themselves. I found everything from old childhood paperdolls like Betsy McCall and Shirley Temple to Princess Diana and the Berenstain Bears. (Even without my granddaughter I was having a great time!)

Sorry I can't do the links but here's a couple places to get you started:

But you can just do a search using "printable paper dolls" and you will find a ton of websites!

Have fun! And be sure to let your kids have some too!

Lenette, I love paper dolls when I was a kid. Nice memories, thanks. I can't get into the first site though, I'll try later.

Lenette-------thank you I have printed many of the printable paper dolls & I take them already cut out & I put clear contact paper on them--- take to the care homes I visit-----so many of the women love them--found several of my Alzheimers patiences love them & play with them---

There are many who enjoy them----great therapy--for many ages & many conditions!!!!

Sonda, thanks for the idea of covering them with clear contact paper! Something I should have thought of myself but didn't. I always glue them to light cardboard but hadn't thought about protecting the front.

I hadn't thought of using them for older people, either. What a great idea. There are some really beautiful paper dolls out there, especially some of the Gone with the Wind types and Victorian styles.

With all the historical costumes, I could even see the dolls being of real value in homeschooling.
