Pipe Bombs in Mailboxes

Wow, that is scary. The world is filled with craziness.

Please tie a fishing line to your mailbox door and pull it open from across the road, or keep it locked, with a slot for mail to be inserted.

HHMMMMMMMM........How would you know there were anti government notes in a box that was blown by a pipe bomb? 15 photos mostly of G- men and politicians and not one picture of a blown mailbox or recovereed pipe bomb. This is another stinker.

On the other hand, did you read the text of that note? And these were put in with a bomb? This guy is an idiot! Where is it that Stan lives?

Beause not all the mailboxes were blown up and the ones which were had shreds of the clear plastic bags and batteries..The solution ,now that more were discovered in Nebraska seems incredibly obvious with hindsight..take the door off your mailbox, and instruct your kiddos not to touch any packages........I feel so sorry for Postal workers....my goodness..Anthrax and now pipebombs! This weirdo or weirdos has had all day Sunday to travel the rural roads fooling with mailboxes.....I guess for a change the city cousins feel safer!

The bombsin Nebraska did not explode. On one of those they found a note.We know some of these people through other friends. The one fellow pitched out of his mailbox. Why it didn't explode is everybody's question. The thing that scares me is that the notes are saying there will be more "attention getters" Does that mean more pipe bombs or something bigger? I was wondering if this is the anti-government group, why do they attack the citizens? Why don't they attack some gov't facility, etc. They are telling us that it is terriosts related. So I guess we will see what happens. Cindy

This WOULD be the week that I am getting packages from all over the country doing the quilt block swap! Also, I have had packages come to me from the barter board!-(that has been great, y'all ought to check out that forum if you havn't allready.) I have to agree though- if its antigoverment, why not attack something more, well govermental?

This sounds like the work of someone local, why would terrorists want to bomb a farmer,or a mailman? A terrorist would go for a bigger target.

-- cowgirlone in ok (cowgirlone47@hotmail.com), May 05, 2002.

Cowgirlone,

The terrorists in this country have I believe, promised to spread the terrorism around as much as possible, not limiting it to government. If it was limited to government it would not be as effective. We were promised that terrorism would reach everone in the US. Is this what they meant or not??

Look at the terrorism in Israel, with the homocide bombers. (I refuse to call them suicide bombers, because that is not their purpose, their purpose is to kill and main innocent civilians, and they have been very effective.)

Pipebombs in mailboxes may or may not be a copycat crime, but either way it is a threat to all people in the US, mostly those in rural or suburban areas.

We all need to use common sense in order to remain safe, not paranoia, but common sense. Just keep your eyes open.

Talk to you later.

-- Bob in WI (bjwick@hotmail.com), May 05, 2002.

You're right Bob. By a bigger target, I meant someplace that would do more damage, hurt more people at a time instead of just one victim. I am certain that the terrorists are not through, we should all be on guard. Best wishes.

-- cowgirlone in ok (cowgirlone47@hotmail.com), May 05, 2002.

I believe that with terrorists its not Physical damage so much as psychological damage. Its one thing to hit a large goverment bulding in a big city-you kinda think well yeah thats a target. But now everyone will have that little bit of a pause, that moment of "what if...." before they do something as everyday, as homey,as personal, as picking up the mail

That reminds me that I need to go down to our mailbox and tie the door of it open with some rope. They will not deliver mail here without the door being secured open.
