J T+KW from Enterprise Jct to Titusville

What happened to the line from Enterprise Jct to Titusville after the Jacksonville, Tampa and Key West was absorbed? Did anyone else continue to use it? If they did, when did they discontinue it? Where can I find some more info on this line and the JTandKW?

Thanks

The JT&KW was sold to the Plant System, ACL's predecessor in Florida, on April 21, 1899, and on that same date the Enterprise Junction-Titusville branch was sold to a FEC predecessor.

Enterprise Junction was renamed Benson Springs Juction in about 1924, and in 1932 renamed again, to just Benson Junction.

Titusville-Aurantia, 9 miles, was still in use by the FEC as late as 1996. Aurantia-Benson Junction was abandoned sometime between 1973 and 1977.

Probably the best source of information on the JT&KW is the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society(R&LHS) BULLETIN No.86(July 1952) which was reprinted a couple of years back. This is the BULLETIN Florida RR history issue and has a chapter on the JT&KW, including a loco roster. For a freight car roster, obtain a CD-ROM of the 1897 OFFICIAL RAILWAY EQUIPMENT REGISTER from Al Westerfield at http://users.multipro.com/westerfield

That portion of the JT&KW went to the Florida East Coast Railway. I do not know when the FEC abandoned this branch, but I suspect that it was in the late 1940's or 1950's.
