NO LAWS!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I found out today that there are no laws here regarding sales from a roadside stand. Hooray for me. This means I can sell anything I can make or produce from a stand in my front yard without permits, inspections, or any other red tape. I am positive now that my land will support me very well. I will be talking to my insurance agent, though. Love you all.

Just don't forget that you may need to collect sales tax and submit it timely. Depending what state you are in.

Are you Robin that made big news with the photos going to an insurance company? Saw the article on World Net Daily. The item had been posted here a few weeks ago.

Whether you are or not, congratulations Robin, a victory for the little guy. Hope your operation goes successfully.

Not sure why you want to stir up the pot by calling the ins. person?..... Leave sleeping dogs lie....Hope it works out!

You always want to notify your insurance person, in case a slip, trip and fall, or illness resulting from some produce, or jam you sell causes a lawsuit. If you don't notify them you are running a business, chances are your insurance will be cancelled, and you will be SOL in said lawsuit. Too risky.

There is such a thing as product liability insurance. If you make a product ( no matter what it is ) if it causes illness or injury for any reason you might be liable.

One thing to remember with business type insurance... if someone sues you they will be also sueing your insurance company and it will be their lawyers who will be able to defend the suit. Imagine what you'd pay an attorney if someone had some reaction to a product with peanuts in it if you didn't have it on the label even if it was an innocent error on your part.

Go for it!. Those who would hinder you are essentially your employees.

It's a very sad day when we must think so hard about "CYA" just to sell some produce in frount of your house. Mabe you could form a LLC and rent your frount yard from yourself to sell your produce?

Andy, you still could be held responsible, legally, because your company would be you (in other words, no one else to blame).
