Vesta Paper

Has anyone used this brand's B&W papers? It does not seem like Ilford so I wonder who makes it.

If you are looking for economical, good quality paper, try Adorama's house brand. I've had good luck with it and it works well with the Ilford VC filters.

Otherwise, buy a small quantity from the Econozone and let us know what you think of them.

I bought some stuff on Ebay and a 100 sheet box of Vesta RC 8x10 and 25 sheets of Vesta warmtone came with it. I had never used RC paper before and could not find out anything about Vesta. Developed in Bromophen 1:3, both were a BIG surprise. It is a very good paper. Rich full toned and it handles nicely and dries beautifully with minimum color or density shift. If I knew where to get it I would buy some more. I was really surprised at how much I liked the RC glossy, and even more surprised that it dried well in my rotory drum dryer at very low temp. It was just an experiment that the manual said would work, and it did.

I just went to Econozone, if anything they are understating the quality of this paper. I have not tried any other developer than Bromophen but in it with know negs that I have printed on Ilford Multigrade, Vesta is spendid. I just looked at the prints again from a long scale image with lots of smooth greys, I see no reason to try anything else. I would suspect Ilford or Forte makes the stuff. Maybe I am impressed because I was expecting vey little, but on second look, I find no room for improvement. I would be just as happy with the prints if I did not know they were printed on no name paper. It responded well to my contrast changes made in my color head using the Durst equivelents.

Fred - I agree with you about the quality of this paper - it is a superb paper in every respect. I noticed that Econozone has a fiber based paper also available, as well as a fiber based warm toned paper. I wonder if you, or anyone else, can comment on these two papers?

I would like to know if Econozone purchases this paper from only one manufacturer and then resells it under their "Vesta" house brand name, like Freestyle's Arista paper and Adorama's house brand paper, or if they use the "Vesta" house name for any and all paper that they can buy up in bulk and resell at discount?
