MEATBALL SUB CASSEROLE1 Loaf Italian or French Bread - cut into 1" slices
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream cheese, softened
½ cup mayonnaise (do NOT use low fat or fat free)
1/4 tsp pepper
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded Mozzarella cheese (divided)
1 jar (28 oz.) Spaghetti Sauce
1 cup water
2 cloves of minced garlic
1 recipe of meatballs (follows)Arrange bread in a single layer in an ungreased 13x9x2 baking dish (you don't have to use all the bread). Combine the cream cheese, mayo, and seasonings and spread over the bread. Sprinkle ½ cup mozzarella cheese over all. Combine the spaghetti sauce, water and garlic. Add the cooked meatballs. Pour evenly over the cheese mixture. Sprinkle with remainder of mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered at 350º for 30 minutes or until heated through. Yields: 6-8 servings.
Meatballs
1/3 cup green onions, chopped
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
3 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese, grated
1 pound ground beefMix all together and shape into 1" meatballs. Bake at 400º for 15-20 or until no longer pink in the middle.
