Viking Promotions LLC Presents The 2nd Annual New Jersey State Rowing Championships Tuesday, July 9th, 2002 Race Start: 9:00 am (registration 7:30 am) Entry Fee: $20.00 per rower

Rowers of all ages will gather at Beaton Boat Yard in Brick, NJ to experience the competition, camaraderie and wide array of unique craft in what is New Jersey’s largest surfboat rowing event. Viking Promotions’signiture event, the New Jersey State Rowing Championships, covers 7 miles of the open water of Barnegat Bay, passing through 14 beach communities from Mantoloking to Seaside Heights. This is a rare opportunity to see not only many of our areas top rowers (many lifeguards and former lifeguards), but a wide assortment of rescue boats, self-bailers, whitehalls, dories, Jersey Skiffs, and custom craft.

The race, with over 12 boat classes, 5 age groups and 5 rowing combinations, is instituting an “Exhibition” class this year open to any rowing craft. This years sponsors include Outback Steakhouse of Brick, NJ, Fosters Lager, and Carlisle Paddles. The entire event is a benefit for the Toms River Seaport Society and Maritime Museum, a volunteer association that houses, restores, and maintains wooden boats as part of American history.
