Preparing fresh wood for crafts

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

I am drying slabs of wood from our pine trees for decoupage. Does anyone know of a good book and/or website that would tell me how to prepare the wood properly? Many thanks!

Bonnie, this site has a section on drying wood, I hope it helps. :) LQ http://www.westdean.org.uk/arts/wood/fine_fur.htm

This has happened to me several times here on Countryside. People post sites to visit, like above, and when I go there it's a listing of courses at the college in England. Many are of interest to me, unfortunately I'm not going to England anytime soon, but the post references this as a place to get information about drying wood. I couldn't find anyway to get any info other that the courses, cost, etc. Am I doing something wrong? How can I find out any other info from this site. Just wondering, Betsy
