sweet potato slips

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Okay a few weeks ago I got information from some of you on how to start my own sweet potato slips. Which I have done. My question is on one end of my potato there is a vine that is about 2 1/2 feet long with about 12 different leaves branched off of it. Do I break each leaf off the vine and plant or does the whole vine have to be broke off the potato and planted as one plant? There are several more smaller vines also, but none are long like this first one. Thanks for all your information. R.H.

You need a few inches of the vine. Why not give them a little more time to grow. It is still early for sweet potatoes in Oklahoma.

I am doing this also. Do you just plant and water the rootless clipping?
