they make stepping stone molds, easy to use,,or you can get creative and just make blobs, and finish with your hands

I make mine using broken coffee cups and plates in sackrete mix, using a cut down plastic bucket for a mold.

You can use a metal old round cake pan for a mold. Or, if you have some flexible garden edging laying around, you can make any shape mold you want. If some of your stepping stones are going to be large, you might want to use some chicken wire for reinforcement when you pour them.

You can use anything for a mold. I used a strip of cardboard formed into a circle and stapled together recently. Buy a bag of mortar mix (quickcrete). Mix it up and fill your mold about half way. Put a piece of chicken wire or something similar down for renenforcement and then fill the rest of the way with mix. Smooth and embed whatever you want for decorations in the top. Let dry for a day or two before you remove the mold. I have heard of people using the bottom of a box, an ice cream bucket cut off half way, and wood forms made of scrap lumber. I'm not sure if you need to coat a form with a solid bottom with something like vaseline so you are able to release the stone. Anybody know??? Have fun!

I have also heard of using square pizza boxes for molds.
