BILL TARGETS GUN-MAKERS By FRANKIE EDOZIEN

April 22, 2002 -- Victims of gun violence in New York City should be allowed to sue the manufacturers if they don't follow a code of conduct designed to thwart illegal trafficking, a councilman proposed yesterday. David Yassky (D-Brooklyn) said the bill would leave gun-makers open to suit unless they:

* Refuse to supply stores that sell more than 20 guns used in crimes in a year.

* Refuse to sell guns to dealers who resell them at gun shows.

* Sell only to stores that have a "one gun a month" limit on individuals.

* Sell only to dealers with stores who have permanent addresses, display permits and maintain computerized records.

------------------------------------------------------------------ This is exactly why we need groups like the NRA & GOA. Everybody who owns a firearm or sees the need for their use should belong to one if not both of these groups. They have been fighting this stuff for many years. I know that for a fact since I am a NRA Lifer.

Although I have nothing against the NRA,(as I once belonged)I think they have been severely watered down as a group influence every since 1968. Even with the NRA around, slowly and steadly our gun ownership rights have still been eroded away.

This bill will be very interesting to follow, I hope you keep us posted.

I hate the NRA. Sorry Bob, but they are the ones who began the dance of political compromise that gave us restrictions on a God given right and I certainly don't think they do a fair enough job of representing. Heck, Charlton Heston was a huge proponent of the 68 gun act which was taken from the Nazi's gun laws. He's had a change of heart, but in the past month he has said he is afraid of AK 47's. That's like being afraid of a big pipe. It's the person behind the thing that can be problematic. GOA is a lot more my style. NO compromise......at least that's what they say.
