Does anyone have any ideas for savory snacks for my husbands lunch? Something like a dorito or chips....

you could make homemade tortillas and fry them. You could make homemade potato chips, you could make homemade cheese puffs (www.lowcarbeating.com has the recipe). OR you could give him a piece of fruit instead and save his heart....lol

Seasoned oyster crackers----12 or 16 oz. bag of oyster crackers. 3/4 to 1 cup of oil. 1 package powdered ranch dressing mix. 1 tsp. dill weed. 1/4 tsp garlic powder or salt. Mix oil and seasonings, pour over crackers and mix well. Bake in 200 or 225 oven stirring every 10 to 15 minutes until oil is absorbed.

My husband likes pepperoni rolls. I make lots ahead of time and freeze them. He eats them as snacks or place of sandwiches.

How about homemade carmel corn? It's not hard to make and it is good.

Hi, Ginger...I always liked making cornbread muffins with bacon, cheese, green peppers, and onions for my hubby's lunches. My only trouble with his lunches was that he never wanted to change them, so after 3 years of flaked ham sandwiches and cornbread muffins, I never want to make them again! He, he, he. He has moved on to other lunches now, thank goodness. I think he realized that I meant it when I said I couldn't make the flaked ham anymore after my face turned green while making them for the last time. (about 5 years ago now) LOL If the muffins are not too big for his lunch, they're really quite good, and not hard to make...just put in whatever you have handy in the fridge. I'm not sure this will be helpful, since your question referred to chips or Doritos, it's just what worked for me. Good luck...Judy

i buy the giant bags of corn tortillas & spread butter or olive oil then sprinkle on salt and various spices or vinegar/lime juice, [careful paprika burns in a jiffy!]. stack 'em & cut them into strips or pie shaped wedges & broil them turning them once for extra crunch if desired.

once the ingredients are together these are super fast to prepare. & only the baking pan & cutting board to clean!

less oil, no strange additives & my saltiness level. i've never seen how long they will store since they are gobbled up around here pretty quik.

Ginger,

How about slicing some of the jalapeno cheese and putting it on crackers? Also barbecued pork rinds occasionally. Little thin potato pancakes with cream cheese spread between two of them. A dip made with a can of Rotel and a small package of Velveeta (put it in a Tupperware) and put some corn chips in to dip it with - good hot or cold.
