History of Ideas for Developmental Psychology

greenspun.com : LUSENET : History & Theory of Psychology : One Thread

I was wondering if you have, or know of any sights looking at the History of Ideas for Developmental Psychology. A time line or a concept map perhaps. Also any information on Jean Baker Miller, and where she fits into the History of Ideas for Development.

Thanks

For the history of developmental psychology, you might have a look at some of the resources listed in APA Div. 7's "On-line History Guide" at http://classweb.gmu.edu/awinsler/div7/files/onlinehistoryguide.pdf. I'm afraid know little about JBM, except that her training institute's website can be found at http://www.jmbti.org/. You might ask her directly.

Jean Baker Miller's articles and books are available from the Stone Center (website accessed through google search). She is an extremely significant person in regard to the History of Ideas for Development. She and her colleagues have been doing extensive work on the relational nature of the developing person (they define "self" as "movement-in-relation". She has written the introduction to the newly edited "The Young Child as Person:Toward the Development of Healthy Conscience" (Watermelon Mountain Press), available on my website www.onbecominghuman.com or by requesting it from me via e-mail.
