Poaching eggs in the microwave

I filled a cauldron shaped soup cup with seasoned boullon water and cracked my egg into it , careful not to break the yolk. Nuked it on high for two and a half minutes. Poured the water off and slid it onto the plate. The white was just a tad runny (could have used another 10 seconds, bu I like runny yolks), the yolk was perfect, no explosions . A piece of nuked bacon and a piece of buttered toast and coffee and I had a "6 minute" breakfast.

Ditto Jay, thanks for the tip. I am a weenie about trying new things in the microwave so since you have taken the risks, now I'll try the egg! LOL LQ

I dont know if its the 2 inches of water or the soup cup, but no exploding yolk. I did cook it BEFORE my weekly microwave cleaning just in case. BTW I also cooked 2 for 4 minutes each and I got a slightly off shaped hard boiled egg with no shell. Should work good for egg salads or other cut up boiled egg dishes.
