Device stumper : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

What is the 6 letter, one word name of the metal rack that sphiers are mounted on to display the movement of planets in classrooms?

I know this is a six letter word to describe what the whole unit is - a mobile - but I doubt that's what you're looking for (too easy).

Right Judi, if the stumpers were that easy they would be of no interest.

The device's name contains the same letter three times.~

C'mon people, it is 2.30am in Oz and this lurker has to go to bed. Doesn't anyone know? By the way, who stumps the stumper? Seems like Mitch is doing all the work. Cheers.

Gosh Mitch, this is a tough one! And I should know the answer cuz I love to study the planets and stars and stuff like that. Heck, I really wanted to take some cosmetology classes in college, but opted for soil science and agronomy. Now for you star gazers, if you watch the western horizon over the next few weeks after sundown, you'll be able to see five planets all lined up in a row! Won't be able to see that agin in your it's now or never.

The word begins with a vowel. Some days there are rocket scientist, other days not. Have patience and eat your milk and cookies.~ ~

Half of a product's name found in grocery stores is pronounced exactly like the devices name.~

I know it must have something to do with OREOS!!!

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (, April 19, 2002.

BINGO! The device is an orrery which sounds like the cookie with out the "os" sound on the end.
