Provence Photogrpahy & FineWineDining trip update...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Here is a quick update for those of you that expressed interest in the workshop I am trying to assemble for this Fall. I am leaving for Provence next week to scout the area, check out the hotels, film processing facilities, guides, restaurants and of course, finalize the shooting locations. Here is what I can tell you as of now:

First off, due to the instructors' schedules and a few desirable events that have become available, the dates have been revised. We are now looking at September 12th through the 22nd, and I'll be there three or four days early, and stay three or four days after for anybody that wants to hang out on either end.

Second, the hotel I wanted to book is simply not available for any times we wanted to go, BUT they said we would be welcome to use their darkroom facilities. Hotel update to follow after I return.

Third, we now have an opportunity to photograph a traditional bullfight from ringside. This is done in an old Roman amphitheater, and is supposedly a remarkable opportunity. While we have decided to add this to our program, we realize that some may find it offensive, so we will have an alternative location available for those who don't wish to participate.

Lastly, I can now tell you the instructors’ names as they are scheduled. Lucien Clergue will lead the Figure Study portion (Evening lectures with two afternoons of shooting) of the workshop and Bullfight (one afternoon). Catherine Steinmann will lead the travel portion of the workshop (remainder).

Exact costs, names of hotel, restaurants, and schedule will be posted as soon as I have compiled the data.

For those new to the group, this trip is designed to offer the photographer AND his or her non-photographer significant other a workshop environment they can enjoy together, coupled with a few fine-dining/fine-wine meals. The non-photographers will have alternative shopping or sightseeing trips available while we are doing our structured shoots. The location is Provence, France. Trip will be limited to 12 participants plus their significant others, if applicable.

More details to follow when I return!

PS: Feel free to ask questions here, as they may be of interest to the group.

Cheers,

Jack, I may be interested. Please send information as it becomes available, especially pricing and which area of Provence. I have yet to book any jobs during these dates, but expect that some demand could arise. If things firm up, and my wife and I agree to go, I can block the dates out. -Marc Williams

P.S. Provence is beautiful in Sept.
