As seen on TeeVee

A break from the silliness...with a bit more silliness.

Picked up one of those "Quick Chop" food choppers for 10 bux at Wally-World. You know, the cylinder thingy with the plunger on top that dices onions etc. I must say the thing works pretty darned good, noisy as hell, the dogs bark at it, but it does make for quick chopping.

Anybody else have any luck with something "as seen on TV"?

The bag sealing machine is pretty good. No problems with the machine, but the seams sometimes leak. And if you're trying to seal something with any kind of an edge, it might puncture the bag at that point. But I'm not sealing the stuff for time capsules, so it works well enough for what we need it for.

Unk:

A very long time ago, my mother by law, bought us a veg-a-matic. Bought one for her son at the same time. I didn't use it for a long time [he was offended and gave us his]. Damn things work. I still use them. Do some things better than the expensive food processor.

I have never purchased anything advertized on TV. I suppose some of them work.

Best Wishes,,,,,,

Oxy-Clean is good stuff. I add it to laundry detergent in the wash. It's not miraculous, but after a few washings, stains that you thought would never come out really do.

I have one of those choppers, Unk, but I got it at a Pampered Chef party. It works great.

I got one on Unk's recommendation, and yep, it does the job. The kids complain because they have to take it apart to clean it, but they should try taking apart and cleaning one of those complicated cusenarts(sp) or whatever they're called.

p.s...I'm pretty quick with a knife. I can probably chop and dice faster than it would take me to cut into chunks and load the chopper thingy. Though I have eyed one of those processors for the instances where I am chopping large quantities for fresh salsa, etc. Does it make stuff mushy or does it chop more uniformly and cleanly? I'm afraid everything would ending up looking pureed and soupy, rather than chunky. Enough rambling... =o]

pss...I remember a thread about shavers and I have to say, the Venus shavers are just as amazing as they claim. Good stuff maynard!

My grill was highly recommended by Anita on a previous thread.

Cin,

We use Oxy-Clean ourselves. Try the Orange Clean; it works pretty well, too.

cin, the only thing I had turn mushy was a dill pickle. I think I whacked the chopper a few too many times, heehee.

Heat it up and make pickle soup. Quite delightful, and low in fat.

Unk, they sell that stuff in a jar now. It's called "Pickle Relish".

Poole:

Try soap, it also works. I have tried the orange stuff and didn't see that it worked better. Oxy-clean; well peroxide is cheaper and the same thing.

Best Wishes,,,,,
