"Homesteading Dog!" - "Big Possum" [Preachin]

Since this is a homesteadin forum I'll just title this as "The Homesteadin Dog" and see if it flys.

I pulled up to the highway this mornin and stopped at the stop sign. No vehicles in sight by mine--but--a big yeller dog was trottin down the highway with remenants of a dead animal in his big old mouth. He was grinnin when he trotted by on his way home. When he was directly in front of my truck--I barked at'm. Talk about business pick'n up!!! Why that big raskel dropped that "thing" he was carry'n in his mouth and commenced to "gettin with it". He didn't even bark, look back or anything that would slow'm down. Straight across the highway but not around the curve. He jumped the ditch and across the last years bean field headin to home. After he got into the field a mite-he did look back but not for long. I "barked" at'm again. The entire process took on a more important meaning again. I just had to slow down and laugh at'm. No harm done I rekon but he sure did get some exercise!

Noticed another friendly animal on the way to the hospital south of us before noon. A huge possum done and got "ironed out" on the blacktop. In all appearances it happened probably yesterday. He was gettin kinda "ripe" and about 3 times larger than normal. Of course, he smelled like roses! Got me to think'n again---which is sometime dangerous. Wondered where the big old dude came from, where he was heaaded, if he had any "folks" at home to mourne his "passin", how old he was etc etc etc. Sometimes I think I have too much time on my hands and then I get to think'n again. I dont stop what I'm already doin to do this think'n- I can let my mind wander as I drive without much disturbance. I don't know what all that means but I'm still lookin for stuff to look at when I'm awake!

Grass is grow'n like weeds now, mowers are settin outside of mower shops awaitin their appointed time for repair. I've already gotten old troy bilt out, fired'r up and mowed already. Course that's been two days ago and it needs mowed again already. Methinks it'll have to wait until next week! I've got some very important things to tell whoever will listen. It's hard to contain what I've been blessed with--so--I won't! If I can help just one soul find peace [salvation] safety, healing in this life then I've done what I'm called to do. I got to witness this mornin to a fine lady who has had triple heart bypass since I had mine. She's fighting fatigue like I did before God healed me in January of 02.

Beautiful day here today, temps close to mid 80's. I'm fix'n to replace the furnace in our house and install a bigger newer and more effecient one. Kinda hate to take it out right now--next week we may need the heat. We do need the a/c today but it'll have to rest a mite until it's warmer. Havew ya'll cleaned filters, oiled blowermotors etc on your a'cs yet? Now is the time.

It's also time to Trust Jesus Christ for you Lord and Savour--that is if ya'll ain't done it yet. He's comin back soon. old hoot. Matt. 24:44

Used to always tell the Boy that the caterpillars racing across the highways were going home to their families. Had their little briefcases under their arms and their working suits on and fedora hats on their heads. I still swerve to miss caterpillars. Always have. They've got families too...

And the frogs and turtles when it's raining - It's hard to believe we see so few in our daily lives, and so many when it rains. Maybe we're not paying enough attention, huh?
