Canon EOS 3 and High Speed Infrared?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have heard that you can't get good pictures with High Speed Infrared in EOS 3....I've already tried SFX 200, that turned out fine in my EOS 3. How about Kodak's Ektachrome Infrared and Black and White High Speed Infrared?

The EOS 3 uses infrared sensors for its film transport mechanism. I've heard varying reports as to the extent of the fogging when used with HIE film. I'd try it and see.

Steevens,

I had the same dilemma when starting to shoot IR because I had an EOS 5 and a 50E both of which use IR sensors. My answer was to buy a cheap second hand EOS600/630 body on eBay (less than 100 UK pounds) which is great for IR work and have shot both Kodak B&W and Ektachrome films with great results. Actually I was so pleased with the EOS 600 that I bought a second and actually use them quite regularly. Now I tend to carry my EOS 5 with conventional film and one of the EOS 600's loaded with IR.

If you haven't already come across this site: www.cocam.co.uk/CoCamWS/Infrared/INFRARED.HTM

its a great source on IR photography - I found it more helpful than any of the books I've read.
