Fairbanks, AK Are there any practicing doulas?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Doula.Com General Discussion : One Thread

I have lived in the Fairbanks area for 11 years now. I have been a doula for 15 years. I have attended over 35 births.I love it! I have attended the ALACE course but have not comp;eted my certification. I have found my clientel by a word of mouth. I would like to move forward with this as a business but one of the things you need is a backup doula. I would be interested in meeting with anyone who is inclined to help me in helping the women of Fairbanks have the kind of birth experience they want by having doulas available when needed. Please feel free to contact me if interested. Sincerely, Trish Stebbins

Hi Patricia, I would e-mail DONA. You can find their site at www.dona.com. I know a lot of women in AK have taken their course- there is/was a DONA trainer in Anchorage. You might be able to get hooked up that way.

You can also try calling local childbirth educators. They may attend births themselves or may know other women who do.

Good luck, Kirsten
