update on dead baby goat

No it did not come back alive but I think I hit on a good treatment! The day after I lost the one I wrote about I lost another to the same symptoms. Looked all over for antitoxin without avail. Another one came down with the same symptoms-refusal to eat, lethargy, abdomen swollen and sloshing noise when shook. I took off formula and gave her 30cc every two hours of Resorb. The first time I gave it I put 3cc of Garacin (the kind for pigs).I had to tube feed the first day and 1/2 but by the evening of the second day she was drinking 1/2 strength formula with Resorb. That was almost two weeks ago I believe. I kept her on a low setting heat pad the first three days. She is with the rest of the nursery now. Have not had anymore of this since then except for one twin that just seems "off".She can really put the formula away now. Terry

Terry what about using something like Probios dispersable powder or Whole Milk Fortefier in Jefferslivestock.com if you have to use formula on these kids? Also a pinch of baking soda per bottle would also help. Once the kids are older they don't seem to be plagued so much with tummy problems from to much milk or coldmilk or milk replacer, but the little ones do. If I was forced to use milk replacer I would vaccinate with C&D Antitoxin while waiting for my CD&T toxoid shots to take effect. Spectamyacin (the red stuff, called the Pig Pump) Biosol and Garacin are all for bacterial scours, Ecoli, and we use it also for malaise, just that all over icky felling that kids get, they aren't sick, but won't eat, and just lay around.
