Canon UK stock

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

I have just ordered a new eyecup for my Canon T90 from Canon UK Ltd. via my local camera shop (The Camera House - Loughborough - UK)

Canon assure the retailer that they have stock and I look forward to my new eye-cup arriving at the end of this week.

Has anyone else had any similar success with supposedly rare and out of stock parts actually being available upon request to the manufacturer?

So, is it a genuine T90 eyecup, or is it an EOS one that also happens to fit the T90 (if so, do you know which eyecup it is)? I'm surprised it it's the former, as I didn't think Canon UK supported the FD range any more, but if so I'll be getting in contact with them myself!

Jeremy, you're right, I have checked with Canon myself and it is the EOS1 eyecup.

Maybe Canon UK aren't as good as I thought they were but it was nice of them to suggest the EOS cup as a substitute.

But does it fit nicely - I had heard of people using EOS eyecups, but thought that they had to be adapted to fit the eyepiece blind lever and never quite sat "true"?

It seems to fit pretty well.

It is wider than the original T90 eyecup. It does not foul the eypiece shutter lever but does cover it almost completely making it more difficult to operate than normal. The EOS 1 does have a very similar eypiece shutter lever don't forget.

If anything, it looks better than the original.

Problem, only slight, is that the new eyecup has to be lifted a couple of milimetres to open the back and change film.

Generally though, far better than I expected and better than NO eyecup by a mile.

I meant to get you the part number but my wife threw away the packaging!! I will find out next time I go into 'The Camera House'

OK, thanks for the info, sounds like it might be worth a go (but they aren't exactly cheap, are they).

Re Eyecup for T90. Joe, I too am looking for an eyecup for my T90 and would appreciate the part number. Is it EC-II?

Thanks Dennis Dowie

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is.

The others don't allow for the eypiece shutter lever.

Thank you, Joe. Regards Dennis Dowie
