Sold my chickens : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Took 20 of 27 of my chickens to the auction today. Done real good. After commission I received $107.00 total. My Production Reds sold for $8.50 each, Brown Leghorns-$7.50 each, Auracannas-$7.50 each, White Leghorns-$3.75 each, Wyandot and Dominiquer-$6.50 each, Brown Leghorn rooster-$4.00, and Cornish roosters-$1.50 each.

Commission is 20%.

hmmmmm... you lost a dollar per chicken due to commission. I think I would have eaten the roosters.

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea chickens sold so well! I'll sure keep this in mind for the future.

Good job, RH! Roosters don't go for that much at the auctions that I've been do, so I think you did real well!

I gave away all my chickens before the move! I had no idea there were auctions that would take chickens. Congratulations. I think you did good.

How old were they? I have baby ducks, chickens, and turkeys. I thought we would partially raise them and then take them to auction!

Galiean, all my red chickens were 1 year old and my leghorns were 2 years old. Baby ducks went for $3.00 each, baby chicks-$.85 each, there were no baby turkeys for sale but full grown Toms went for $20- 25 each. As of right now I think a person can make more money raising chickens then raising pigs.
