Working at home with computer?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone know where I could get work to do at home on my computer. I don't expect to make a fortune. If I could make $200-$300 a month, that would be great. My health is not as good as it once was and I like to use my computer anyway. Any legitimate ways to make a little money with it? Jo Ann

Have you checked into medical transcription? The course you would need is fairly short. My sister does this. As I understand it you receive recorded tapes of doctor's notes, and while listening to them you type them into a certain format.

Jo Ann, I once sent off $25.00 (they requied money order only) to a company that said I could work from home using my personal computer, and that they had all of the information i needed to get started!!! I never did get that darn information! I don't recall the name of that company as this was a couple of years ago and I am now over 40...LOL. Anyway, on a serious note, always check out the companies. Go to www.bbb.com and see if they are listed with the Better Business Bureau, they do have some website companies listed with them now. Another thought that someone shared with me was to try your local doctors/dentist/insurance offices to see if they contract work outside of their office(s). Best wishes to you.....

Typing papers for students at a local university, preparing resumes, legal or medical transcription, accounting work for small/home businesses and even balancing checkbooks for people are just a few ways.

There is a rebate center about 100 miles from me - you know, send in the rebate to this address, & in 8 weeks you might get your rebate....

Well, thet have a couple of routes where they give people a tub of envelopes, & you keyboard the info, swap tubs every few days.

My understanding is that it is low pay for the time, but it is legit.

I've pulled out a few of those very exact signs over the past few months. I wish I could catch whoever is putting them around around here.

I think elance.com is a great place if you have a marketable skill. Lots of freelances business transactions taking place there.

Ebay can be a good one too. Even if you don't have something to sell now, you might get some ideas by looking around there.

99.9% of the 'work from home' ads in magazines and newspapers are scams. Except for the person running them. For them I guess it's a good work from home business.
