Moist white cake : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

I would like a recipe for a moist white cake, that doesn't use shortening! Is there such a thing??? I would appreciate any recipes you all might have. Thanks.

Melissa, Here is my 15 year old daughter's favorite white cake recipe. It is very good! HOT MILK CAKE

4 eggs, 2 c. sugar, 2-1/4 c. flour, 2-1/4 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1-1/4 cups milk, 10 Tbl. butter (we use 8 Tbl. butter and 2 Tbl. oil)

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs at high speed until thick, about 5 minutes. Gradually add sugar, beating until mixture is light & fluffy. Combine flour & baking powder; add to batter with vanilla and beat @ low speed until smooth. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter just until the butter melts, stirring occasionally. Add to batter, beating until combined. Pour into a grsd. 9x13" baking pan. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 12-16 servings.

Our family loves this cake with peanut butter frosting. Enjoy!

Thank you very much. I will try it today. I will try peanut butter frosting some other day, as I want to serve it with strawberries for dinner tonight.
