Quote of the day (on questioning our ideals)

"When the boot of government is on your neck, it doesn't matter if it's left, or right." -annonymous

this was 'todays freedom quote' a couple of days ago, on the building freedom web page. I thought it was worth spreading to fertile organic minds. I guess there is no other way to take this than political, so if this is removed on the grounds of it's political nature, I would like to give the following thoughts as to why I think it should be included... What, in the context of living independently, is not somewhat political in nature, and what is this site all about if not the progress of a movement into the country. After all, the word 'politic' has it's root in 'polis' (city in Greek), and if we are not to have a decerningly raised eyebrow for a movement in the urban direction in our planet, then what is the purpose of this forum? I think to openly question everything, especially all things political, is the first step towards voluntary simplicity.... and I could rant further on the subject, but I would like to see what others might have to say. Thanks for your consideration.

I'm hardly the one to ask about off topic posts, seems to me if it contributes positively to the people using the forum and doesn't overwhelm it they're usually allowed to stay. I can guess there are on topic posts that might not sparkle too. To your quote, "When the boot of government is on your neck, it doesn't matter if it's left, or right." It wouldn't hurt to check if the government meant to step on you, and perhaps to do a little soul searching to make sure you wouldn't have stepped on your neighbor for doing the same thing. Freedom as a banner is fine but it should fly below Family, Morality, Duty, Respect, and Faith. Might even be a few more "Freedom" can hold the door for too; however it's early and I gotta house to clean, a lamb to feed, kids to wake up, coffee and breakfast to make, a cat to bury and kittens to feed........ Sure not enough people work to protect thier freedom, most could stand to improve thier efforts to protect Family, Duty....Faith too. It's just easier to gripe about the government. How about a law that limits the number of laws or taxes we have to live under? Simple enough, ignorance of the law is no defence so there should be a limit to how many we have to know or should have to know. Hit that number and the government would have to revoke one to pass a new one. My profound precoffee thought of the week, no doubt worth what you paid for it.

Actually, I believe the root of "Politics" is "poly" meaning "many" and "Tics" meaning "blood sucking parasites".

Ok--I must be watching a video of Bk-Countryside ! BK is (Before Ken) ! Chuck is correct in his assumptions above.

I got booted from this forum for a whole year for making the same statement as Roberto just made. It must be said though--and said again till all homesteaders realize that they did not run to be a homesteader. They were running away from something and became one. WE ARE ALL POLITICAL ! Just living off the fruits of your labor and what the land yields up to you makes you an enemy of the state. Believe me--your government hates you for it. You are not making them any MONEY !!!

So, you don't believe me yet ? Have you not seen the city boys move near you and infiltrate your local government to create zoning restrictions so you cannot have your cows anymore ? Have you not heard of expensive vaccines for your livestock being required of you ? Did you sign your name or put your fingerprint down when you bought your last 50 rounds of ammunition ?

It was the farmers that stood their ground at the Concord Bridge. It was not Thomas Jefferson that fired the shot that was heard round the world, it was a homesteader. If we have learned anything at all from history it is this--It is always the peasants, farmers and homesteaders who revolt to begin again.

And I don't care what tree you hang me from; I'm a homesteader by every defination of the word; I'm a Virginian first, a citizen of planet earth second; You can silence my pen by cencorship but You cannot silence me; Homesteading by nature of God is what makes me FREE.

There Chuck---I broke every rule Ken the dictator made !! To read from the Virginia Motto "SIC SEMPER TYRANNTIS" ( Thus it is with tyrants )

I always wondered why there were 242 threads under the "Political" heading in the archives and yet there were so few political threads on the forum recently. Arguing about politics with people not in the same room is a fun and relatively safe way to spend your time, in my opinion.

As to the opening post on this thread, you're hardly going rile people with a non-partisan attack on Govrernment in general.

Joel, you forgot to include a religious reference.

Have a nice day, all....

Sorry, Joel, I spoke too soon, you slipped God in there so subtly that I didn't notice it the first time through. Good job, rule-breaker!! I bet you didn't lie down for nap-time in kindergarten if you weren't tired!! ;^}

-- gilly (wayoutfarm@skybest.com), April 07, 2002.

Certainly Ross, there must be some rules that apply to everyone. Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you, is a good start. Do as thou will, without causing harm, is another more defining variant that I prefer. Certainly Morality is a key factor in any true definition of freedom, and without Faith, would we not simply stay in bed, and hope that something like it shows up in a dream? Family, of course is the most important thing, and it extends to your relationship to a Higher Power, to the Sun, the Earth, the Sky, and to all beings alive, or dead... without Family, we do not exist. Without the freedom to define our own Morality, we will forever be at odds with the ideology of others. Without the freedom to act on the things that we have Faith in, having Faith provides little service to our well being. How can we have freedom of religion, when the government decides what can be called a religion? Government has not been a friendly thing in general in my opinion, since the largest organized criminals on the planet, the bankers, started to control money. As a result, they control governments. Government has completely lost it's role as benefactor to the population. It has become a hinderance, and a stumbling block for far too long. It's role through taxation is mainly to keep itself running, and to pay the banks for their military/industrial debts. If we are to continue having a government in the future, it must allow the people the freedom to choose their religion, or way of life. How can we create a government that does this... If a governments role in education was to give people the skills necessary to aquire knowledge in whatever field interests them, rather than to force upon them a simplified general knowledge of a narrow number of fields, wouldn't we have a free-er society that can grow in directions that follow the needs of the population, rather than facilitating urban/industrial mindset developement, and the worker (read slave) mentality. If a spirit of questioning things was infused as a basic law of the education system, would that not facilitate the spread of truth? Other things that our education system could provide are different methods of co-operation, and consensus decision making, so that we can develope positive communities based on common goals. Joel, I don't feel that I am running from something so much being fenced in by it. Just like with the local Grizzly bears, I respect the powerful forces that control the government. But government is like a bear that has gotten a taste for your strawberry patch-you either distance yourself from you love of strawberries, attempt to create a distance in the bear's passion, or you get rid of the bear. I would prefer the middle suggestion. Our government has to become a system of justice, so that the bank controlers, who have destroyed the collective wealth (not just money) of this planets population, can not manipulate, or use coersively force the society into an infringement on it's freedoms. Gilly, the attack was non-partisan, because the cause of the disease acts regardless of partisan politics. The nature of the post is to question the way our reality is defined by forces that we have little or no control over, unless we expose them for the theives, and corruptors that they are.

Good for you, Joel!

To have a true homestead forum and think that from time to time politics and religion are not going to be discuss or should not be discuss is not very realistic. People can only talk about goats and chickens just so much and even then politics and religion could come into play on them subjects. EX: "Will county let me have 20 goats on my property?" or "Is the slaughtering of goats moral?"

Everything that takes place on a persons homestead, and around that persons homestead be it small, large or in between is controlled in the most part by outside forces. And in a large part that outside force is Government. From the County deed to the roadways leading to your property,to what you can build and where you can put it. You cannot move onto a piece of property anywhere in this country and just do what you please. Do we really live independently?

Governments and Corporations will always become destructive of freedom,no matter how they start out, because they both involved people. It is the natural way of people to let this happen. The more people you have the more controls neccessary, the more controls the more loss of freedom.

I am sorry to say but I just don't think the majority of Americans have the fight in them anymore to overturn what is happening in this country. As the young become more indoctrinated into the World Order, the more words like FREEDOM,LIBERTY,RIGHTS will become history.

Homesteading,City living, factory work, gardening, etc. all will be at one time or another politicial or religious in nature.

I could read you these various positions almost word for word out of the first year of this forum's archives. Even better they were exchanged in letters between the Founding Fathers almost word for word. Only the names change --the issues remain the same !

Do we have the guts to revolt again ? I think it will come but it will take a defining moment. They said we couldn't affect Countryside with a boycott either but they crawled away under the pressure of economic boycott.

Money will be our weapon of choice in this next revolution. The beast is a drunken bully for money. Starve him and he is a feeble addict wimpering and begging at your feet for scraps. Learn to starve the beast out ! He will be at your mercy in less than six months !

Avoid everything he offers. Schools, civil courts, AFDC, Public transportation and all public buildings. Use nothing he owns and you will hear a crying such as the world has ever known. Not only do you not vote but physically stop anyone from voting. No votes equal no criminals ! No one to carry us futher downward and in 6 months you will have your nation back !

Joel you didnt get booted off you chose to leave.

-- kathy h (ckhart55@earthlink.net), April 08, 2002.

That is one way to look at it kathy. But to stay in the face of unbearable treason is not in my soul. I told everyone what would happen and it did in short order. It is always that way with tyrants. I'm not a mind reader, I'm a historian. Every time you give the unqualified spoiled rich boys an inch they will mow you over with rules, edicts, and laws--just to flaunt their power. When anyone says "free speech does not apply here" shoot them immediately !
