Another question about twins!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

Forgot to add, both babies were stained with meconium, the doeling in particular had lots on her.

Anything I need to do for them?

So far so good!

The doeling who was born second isn't nearly as lively as the buckling, but today she is up and nursing good, just seems a bit shakier--not as steady. I was wondering if I should give her a bit of BoSe just in case?

I had to wrap vetwrap around both their middles, the doe would NOT leave their cords alone, and they were crying and trying to get away, it obviously hurt them. Iodine didn't deter her a bit. I think they will be dry enough tommorow to take the vet wrap off. I'm a little paranoid, I had a breeding bitch years ago that killed a few pups by chewing the cords out :(

I don't remember where you are located to tell you about the Bo-se, really is one of those regional answers.

I have heard of does killing kids by messing with their umbilical cords to the point of them bleeding to death. I am glad she is up and eating, perhaps she lost some blood during one of these episodes and that is the reason she is weak? The doelings are always lagging behind their brothers, make sure he leaves enough milk for her! Vicki

Thanks Vickie, you just answered another question for me....I was wondering if all the doelings seem slower to go than the bucks!
