Recipe of the Day - Poor Man's Dessert : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

This is from an old 1800's cookbook.

12 crackers
3 tablespoons jam (any kind, but must be thick)
2 egg whites, beaten stiff
4 tablespoons sugar

Put some of the jam on each cracker. Add the sugar gradually to the beaten egg whites. This will make a meringue. Cover each cracker with some of the meringue. Place crackers on a pastry sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 4 minutes, or until browned on top.
