Change in Diet

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

My doctor has recommended me to go change my diet to foods high in lysine and low in arganine. Does anyone know about the differences in these. This would mean eating a lot of cheese and dairy products. And cutting out most red meats. Yogurt was high on her list of foods to eat.

I don't anything about the lysine or arganine but I do have a good recipe for homemade yogurt which is easy, and tastes great. If you want it I'll post if you ask.

One thing to watch with eating lots of dairy products is that there is quite a lot of natural tyriptophan (which aids in sleeping) in dairy products and you will probably notice that you feel more tired or drowsy. If you find this happens to you, you might want to discuss it with your doctor for alternatives. There are natural lysine pills available at health food stores.

Remember how good yogurt was for Jalynn. Get Kathy's husband to bring you guys down and I'll teach you how to make it. although we'd have to use store bought milk.
