"Describe the influence of the Papacy and the Catholic Church on the early study of psychology. Be sure to include the role of the crusades and how psychological principles became intertwined with church doctrine." ********************************************************************** I am a Ph.D Learner and above is the question being asked. My textbooks do not arrive until a few days from now and I have been advised by my professor to seek an alternative avenue to get this information.

This is a very broad question. You will find a number of important relevant sources at http://psychclassics.yorku.ca/suggestions.htm#medieval

You might want to consult Misiak & Staudt's Catholics in Psychology-- if you can get your hands on books--for some of the later Catholic influence. Most of the philosophically oriented textbooks such as those by Brett and Klein also have some discussion of the Catholic church.
