Got any ideas or knowledge about Apache campers?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

I recently purchased a Apache Roamer pop-up camper. It has hard sides (no canvas) On the ID plate it says 37-000-726/ Vesely Co/ SAE-L-65 Anyone know the year of this model camper? In your opinion in fair condition what is this camper worth?

Is there a online place to get accessories for this type camper?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Ken, Thanks; you gave me something constructive to do this morning. I found --www.apachepopups.com/--I'm not sure why we use the slash after .com but it has to be there. I found an NADA book on this site but it uses floor sizes not serial numbers. It also has several links to parts and manuals.

Included was a For Sale page and the prices ranged from --"come and get it" to 1500.00 dollars. I found the average price to be about 600.00. Hope this helps !!

Sorry, I forgot the main question. It appears to me that the roamer was only produced prior to 1979 and stealing a # from your serial # I would suspect it to be a 1972

Thanks Joel. It has a bed on both ends and the table drops to make a bed. It's about 6' 8' across the lower frame. It's got a sink, 3 burner gas stove and counter on one side and cabinets with storage bin on the other. I'd guess it to be about 20' long when set-up. Does this help in determining the year?

I've already been offered double what I paid for it. My wife says if I sell it I better have another one ready to put in it's place. :o)

We set it up and camped out in it last night. Kinda nippy at 38 degrees but with 2 sleeping bags each we had a pretty good time.

Here is some more info--You cannot guess the year by the serial number, I am told in the other apache forum. BTW --I saw your question there also. But I have narrowed it down to two possible years. Prior to 1976 the roamer was only 6'6'' wide and that only leaves 1977 and 1978 for the 6'8' model. The 726 in the serial # is a paint code but I forgot what color-sorry The rest is history--in it's day it was considered the crem-de-la-crem of popup campers and sold for 3990.00. The NADA book now says 350.00 wholesale and 450.00 retail. It sounds to me that you have found gold--if not in merchandise --at least in Family time which is worth ten times it weight in gold !! And what did it weigh ? Oh yeah--the gross weight was 1880 lbs.
